My memories of Cliftons, L.A's Old school Cafeteria..and its other locations you'll never see again.I've been going to Clifton's Cafeterias (yes there were more than one) since the early 1980's when Downtown Los Angeles was the grimiest, filthiest, scummiest city hub ever. in the 80's, President Reagan had set the mentally Ill, plus criminals free to roam the streets and to pretty much die there, plus street crime was very high. The reason I was always there was my mom, she was always a hustler. No, not THAT kind of hustler, but as an immigrant with 2 kids who had alot of pride, she refused to go on Welfare or food stamps and sold different items to the people she knew and their friends, church friends, etc. One of the things she did on the side, because she worked 40 hours a week as a seamstress, was sell gold jewelry. So we always went to Downtown LA off of Broadway and 7th (one block from where Id live as an adult for a few years) to St. Vincent's Jewelry center. Almost every trip to DTLA required a pit-stop to my favorite spot to eat, Clifton's Silver Spoon Cafeteria on 7th st. CLIFTON'S SILVER SPOON? yes, the evidence is here in these photos I took from the net. Notice the address.
EVERYONE WAS WELCOME HERE!THE CLIFTON'S I NEVER GOT TO SEE.....the FUTURE OF CLIFTON'S BROOKDALE, MEET THE NEW OWNER!WILL YOU VISIT THE NEW CLIFTONS?
